Travellers planning to spend time in rural areas where kissing bugs are found should take into account the need to take preventive measures against Chagas disease.

In such cases, travellers should do the following:

Avoid sleeping in buildings with unplastered straw or adobe walls or when there are cracks or holes in the walls or the plaster.

Sleep in beds protected by mosquito nets.

Always inspect the home and the room where they will be sleeping to make sure that the conditions are suitable.
