HOW TO PREVENT CHAGAS DISEASE?

As there is no vaccine against Chagas disease, the best way to avoid getting the disease is to be informed and take all the measures that do exist.

As is the case with blood donations, organ transplants are also a possible route of transmission of Chagas disease.

Since the control measures for organ transplants are different in each country, people who have received organ transplants in Latin America or from a Latin American donor should, in case of any doubt, go to their doctor for a check-up.

A person who has Chagas disease and knows it can be an organ donor, but they must always inform the medical staff so that the appropriate decisions can be made.
